Mid-Continent Region

The Mid-Continent region traces its development to oil drilling in the early 20th century and has been a source of U.S. natural gas supply for decades. More recently, natural gas producers have been targeting unconventional resources in the Mid-Continent, such as the granite washes, shale gas, tight sands and coalbed methane plays in the Anadarko, Arkoma, Delaware and Permian basins. Within our Mid-Continent region, we have the exclusive right to gather natural gas produced from all Chesapeake Energy Corporation owned or operated wells within two miles of our gathering systems. In the aggregate, this dedication includes 2 million gross acres in 67 counties. Consequently, our gathering systems servicing these plays are positioned to benefit from increasing volumes as producers continue to execute ongoing development plans for the region.

Our  Mid-Continent gathering systems extend across portions of Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas (excluding the Barnett Shale) and are comprised of approximately 2,400 miles of gathering pipelines and treatment facilities with more than 550 million cubic feet of natural gas (MMcf/d) of daily throughput. Included in our Mid-Continent region are three treating facilities located in Beckham and Grady counties in Oklahoma and Reeves County in Texas. These facilities are designed to remove contaminants from the natural gas stream.
